April 21 meeting to accept Comments on Proposed Park Rules Including Rules for Lake DarlingWritten by Theresa Rose on April 16, 2015
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources State Parks Bureau will accept public comments on proposals to establish and modify rental fees on cabins and picnic shelters, and update rules at Honey Creek Resort State Park, on April 21, 2015 at 2 p.m., in the fourth floor west conference room, Wallace State Office Building, 502 East Ninth Street, in Des Moines.
Proposed changes include establishing cabin rental fees for the new two-bedroom modern family cabins that will be constructed at Lake Darling State Park in 2015 and restructure the listing for Lake Darling to clarify the different cabin types and fees (new and existing); removing the cabin fee for the cabin at Wilson Island that was destroyed in the 2011 flood and is not being replaced; establishing new categories of open picnic shelters: large open shelters and beach cabana-style open shelters, and rental fees for both; and updating park rules that are applicable to Honey Creek Resort State Park.
Persons may present their views orally or in writing. Any persons who intend to attend the public hearing and have special requirements, such as those relating to hearing or mobility impairments, should contact the Department of Natural Resources and advise of those specific needs.
Comments will also be accepted orally or in writing on or before April 21, 2015 by contacting Sherry Arntzen at Iowa DNR, 502 East Ninth Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50319, Sherry.Arntzen@dnr.iowa.gov or by calling 515-725-8486.
