ANOTHER HONOR FOR BOB JENSEN

Six former or soon to retire school administrators will be honored at halftime of the 3A Boys State Basketball tournament championship game Saturday March 14th by the IHSAA for the role they have played in their school’s activity programs that contribute to the total education of their students. Bob Jensen former Mt. Pleasant administrator, coach and teacher is one of the honorees. Bob is a graduate of Harlan Community High School, where he was a letter winner in football and wrestling while also being active in band and the All-State Music Festival. He went on to play football and wrestle at the University of Northern Iowa. He then began his career as a teacher and coach at Elkader for one year, followed by 39 years at Mount Pleasant where he coached football for 39 years, wrestling for 15 years and boy’s golf for 12 years. Bob was also a wrestling official for 11 years. The last 15 years of his career, he was the Activities Director at Mount Pleasant. Throughout his career Bob was active in the IHSADA, where he served on district and state committees. He also contributed to the Iowa Football Coaches’ Association, where he served as president. Although Bob retired in 2013, he continues to volunteer as freshman football coach and assistant boy’s and girl’s bowling coach. He and his wife Carolyn have been married 44 years and have a daughter, Sarah, a son, Reid, and four grandchildren.
