Another Bomb Threat at Fertilizer PlantWritten by Theresa Rose on September 4, 2015
Thursday the Lee County Sheriff’s office responded to a bomb threat at the Iowa Fertilizer Company in Wever…the second such threat this summer. Seven law enforcement agencies and three bomb detection dogs searched the site but no explosive devices were found. IFC has employed bomb detection dogs since the first threat was discovered in July. Authorities believe the threat of any large explosive device is minimal. Such a device would have to be disassembled and smuggled in or built on site. IFC employees will receive information about the seriousness of these threats and the possible penalties. A reward may be offered for information leading to the and arrest and conviction of those responsible. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Lee County Sheriff’s office or Crime Stoppers.
