Anna R. Brower, 84, of Lockridge, IA passed away, Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield, IA.
A visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m., on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Miller officiating. A graveside service will be in Star Cemetery in Cherokee, KS on July 11th. Born May 24, 1931, in Cherokee, KS, Anna Ruth was the daughter of William and Julia (Vandris) Uttley. She graduated from Cherokee High School. She then attended 2 years at Independence Bible College in Independence, KS. On May 24, 1952, she married Jesse Aaron Brower in Cherokee, KS.
A devoted wife and mother, Anna was a housewife. The couple made many moves in numerous states while her husband served as a pastor. She often worked as a secretary in various Christian schools. While living in Gravette, AR, Anna worked in a children’s clothing factory. The couple served as missionaries in Old Mexico.
Anna loved to crochet and sew. All of her children have a homemade afghan. Anna later began making many quilts and did some cross-stitching.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse, of Lockridge, IA; six daughters, Esther (Calvin) Whitaker of Anderson, IN, Elaine (Tim) Millard of Lockridge, IA, Ellen (James) Krueger of Morrison, MO, Betty Shreffler of Owasso, OK, Becky Hunt of Springfield, MO, and Margaret (Gary) Skipper of Troy, OH; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lois Wilmoth of Olathe, KS; a brother, Paul (Glenda) Uttley of Pittsburg, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her parents; two brothers, Merlin (Hazel) Uttley and Ellis (LaVon) Uttley.
