Anna Marie Martin

Anna Marie Martin, 95, of The Kensington in Fort Madison, Iowa, formerly of Farmington, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at The Kensington.

Born September 15, 1920 in Montrose, Iowa the daughter of Oberly and Lulu (Allen) Griswold. On December 28, 1941 she married Glenn William Martin in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1998.

Survivors include her three sons: Ronald Martin of Temple, Texas, Mickey (Diane) Martin of Farmington, Iowa and David (Sue) Martin of Burnsville, Minnesota, six grandchildren: Kevin Martin, Jeff Martin, Jessica Trosvig, Eric Martin, Emma Martin and Livi Martin, six great-grandchildren: Mac and Tucker Trosvig, Nick and Tyler Philbrook, Brock Hutchison and Sadie Martin, brother and sisters-in-law Mabel (Griswold) Sapp and Irvin and Edith Roth. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn, daughter-in-law Carolyn and brother Robert.

Anna began her career teaching in a one room schoolhouse. She then went to work for Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, Iowa. She was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church and the Prebyterian Women. While living in Farmington she did the scheduling and delivered senior meals. Anna enjoyed traveling, walking, dancing, playing cards, socializing, helping others, reading, exercising and Bible study. She made the front page news for her walking. Anna was a joyful and loving soul.

Friends may call between 12:00 noon and 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, Iowa where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. that afternoon.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Sharon Presbyterian Church in rural Farmington, Iowa with Pastor Mary Ann Welch officiating.

Burial will be at the Sharon Presbyterian Cemetery in rural Farmington, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her memory.
