Alvin Russell Trachsel, 89, of rural Milton died at 3:20 A.M. Tuesday April 7, 2015 at home. He was born April 4, 1926 near Pulaski to Paul and Elsie Bollman Trachsel and married Ruth Nadine Findley August 8, 1946 in Ottumwa. Russell graduated from Milton High School in 1943 and spent his life farming the home farm northeast of Milton. He was an active bowler, played town team fast-pitch softball, was a member of the Bloomfield Bowling Hall of Fame and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Rebecca McCaw (Clayle) of Muscatine, four sons, Mike Trachsel of Cantril, Ben Trachsel (Amy) of Lisbon, IA, Tim Trachsel (Debbie) of Fairview Heights, IL and Pat Trachsel (Faith) of Ottumwa, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a sister, Judy Schmidt of Troy. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday April 10, 2015 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Visitation will open at 3 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 P.M. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton. Memorials to Good Samaritan Society Hospice, Ottumwa or Sunnyside Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 13527 252nd Street, Milton, IA 52570
