Allen Henry Hennies , 78, of Donnellson, Iowa passed away at 3:54 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 at the Donnellson Health Center.
Born May 19, 1938 in Donnellson, Iowa, the son of Henry Otto and Viola Marie (Schau) Hennies.
Survivors include one sister, Joan (James) Hyde of Vinton, Iowa; one niece, Dianne Reiland; and one nephew Scott Hyde.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Allen was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ. He was a 1956 graduate of Donnellson High School. Allen was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis for two years. He was a farmer and worked as a guard for Pinkerton Security. Allen was a member of the Donnellson American Legion and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting and trap shooting.
His body has been cremated.
Friends may call and meet with the family from noon to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Reverend Bill Willis officiating.
There will be a flag presentation by the Donnellson American Legion Post #474.
Burial will be at the Primrose Cemetery near Primrose, Iowa.
A memorial has been established for Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ or the Donnellson Health Center.
