Iowa’s rural electric cooperatives actively foster and utilize strategic partnerships to make significant contributions to economic sustainability and community vitality statewide. Iowa Area Development Group (IADG) annually recognizes their electric utility members for outstanding commitment, support, and participation in business development projects and local community initiatives.
Access Energy Cooperative, was recognized for economic development accomplishments and commitment to their local communities at their annual meeting at McMillan Park in Mount Pleasant. Access Energy Cooperative has been instrumental in numerous development projects and initiatives in southern Iowa for many years. In recognition of their leadership and support, the Cooperative was presented with an IADG Impact Award for project development. Two examples of development projects that Access Energy supported include the Iowa Fertilizer Company’s major investment near Wever resulting in significant job creation for the area, and MM Composite’s new manufacturing facility in the Crossroads Industrial Park in Mount Pleasant. The MM Composite project was facilitated by the existence of a speculative building spearheaded by Access Energy.
“We would like to commend the directors and staff of Access Energy Cooperative for their ongoing commitment to business and community development,” stated Rand Fisher, IADG president. “IADG is pleased to recognize their investment of financial and human resources and ongoing support to the citizens and communities within their service territory.”
The Iowa Area Development Group is the marketing and business development office for Iowa’s member-owned rural electric cooperatives, select municipal electric utilities and independent telecommunication companies.
