A Brief Explanation of the North Iris Street Project Construction Progress.

The City of Mt. Pleasant, Warner Engineering nor the Contractors have Control over the current rain pattern. The grading was completed as of Tuesday May 19th for Subgrade. It rained Wednesday May 20th and the grade was dry enough by noon May 21st for sub drain installation but the Subcontractor DeLong Construction who also is the DBE for this Project is on another Project. DeLong is scheduled to be on this Project Tuesday May 26th to start installing the Sub drain and then the Engineering Fabric. If Shipley Contracting would install these items themselves to expedite the Project then they would be in noncompliance with the City’s Grant on this Project which was $1,000,000.00. This could mean the City could lose part if not all of their Grant Money. Once the Engineering Fabric is placed then the sub base rock will be placed and then paving can start. Looking at the extended forecast for Tuesday May 26th until Friday May 29th the forecast is for a 50% chance of rain every day.
